About Debarati
Debarati Bhattacharya, widely known as a New Age Performer, comes from the small, hilly northeastern state of Tripura, the home state of the musical legend, S. D. Burman. Her musical training began at a very early age, under the tutelage of her mother and her aunt, Smt. Nibedita Chakraborty. Later, she was formally trained in Hindustani Classical music by the renowned vocalists, Sri Nanigopal Chakraborty and Sri. Sudipta Shekhar Mishra. Debarati is currently training Classical Music under maestro Ustad Rashid Khan.
Debarati has sung many songs for Bengali films and serials, and jingles for commercials. She has also performed with the eminent artists of the present era, including Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Zubin Garg, Sonu Nigam, Kunal Ganjawala, Kumar Sanu and Babul Supriyo, to name a few. She has also shared the stage in performances with Tollywood's very own singers.
Debarati made a big breakthrough in her musical career when she qualified among the top 20 finalists of Indian Idol in 2004. She was one of the most talented finalists in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in 2006 and the Voice of Northeast in Amul Voice of India in 2008.
