Shayne David is an Indian singer of Armenian descent, born in Calcutta. His claim to fame as a vocalist was achieved after winning a series of competitions during his school years and his three years at St. Xaviers College, while studying for a bachelors degree in commerce.
Fresh out of school, Shayne participated in "Music Magic Contest," organised by the leading newspaper Telegraph and the cola giant Pepsi. In a contest with over 100 participabts from various schools and institutions, Shayne cliched the top spot with his own version of the all time gospel favorite Amazing Grace. Toward the end of his college days, he was called upon by Jesuit priests to sing for the then President of India, Shri. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
His early years as a professional saw a variety of changes as Shayne transcended from Western Ballads to Bollywood chartbusters, from entertaining the most appreciative fans to handling the hardest ones. Then, in the summer of 2005, he got is first international breakthrough -- he was contracted by Swiss travel giants Kuoni to perform all across Switzerland for tourists from around the world. Very soon, his International fame began to blossom.
With India's leading pop diva, Usha Uthup, as his mentor and role model, Shayne was nominated as the next pop icon of the country by fashion magazine Vogue in October 2010. In his career, he has shared the stage with many popular artists like, Shaan, Bombay Vikings, Atif Aslam, Stereo Nation, Shibani Kashyap, Jal, Kunal Gnjawala and KK.
Till date, he has performed in a multitude of international venues, in the Middle east, Thailand, Bangladesh, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, the United States, Sri lanka, Nepal and, of course, extensively across India.
He is known as a pulsating, highly entertaining Indi-pop singer, with a quick sense of humor, whose performances are something you should not fail to witness.
