Dear Friends,
Greetings from your BADFW Executive and Core committees for 2018-2019. We have a group of very dedicated and enthusiastic people to serve you this year. We hope you will support us and join in all the fun activities we will be hosting.

First, we would like to thank the past committee for the wonderful job they have done in the last two years. In spite of the sweltering heat, we had a wonderful picnic, and the food, as usual, was great!

When summer is here, can fall be far behind? We look forward to the gentle breezes, puffy white clouds, the amber and gold leaves and start counting the days to Durga Puja. For Bengalis, Durga Puja is much more than celebrating the victory of good over evil. It is the occasion to celebrate our culture and heritage. As in Kolkata, we publish Puja magazines, enjoy wonderful cultural performances, and of course, stuff ourselves with great tasting Bengali food.

This year, Durga Puja will be celebrated by us on the weekend of October 19. We need the co-operation and participation of the entire community for this grand affair. Please contact our Core Committee members to volunteer your special talents. We always need help with Puja preparations, decorations, and logistics.

We would like to invite cultural program ideas and team performance requests from interested directors, choreographers, script-writers and program leads. We encourage new talents as well as our familiar enthusiasts to please contact us at <cultural@badfw.org> with their concepts no later than July 18th. Due to the large number of requests we usually get, we regret our inability to accommodate solo program ideas, or requests received after July 18th deadline.

We call on all authors, poets and artists to submit their creations to us for publication in Utsav, our Puja magazine. We specially look forward to articles and artwork by our youngest members. Please send all contributions (typed, please) to <magazine@badfw.org> as soon as possible, latest by September 7.
